How to Select the Perfect Ramp for Your Shed
A good ramp for your shed can make the difference from a steep step to a smooth entrance. When choosing the ramp for your shed you’ll want to consider both the ramp material and the layout of the doors.
First choose what it’s made of (aluminum or wood). Next, we need to determine length. If you have an upgraded foundation, a level spot, or doors on the lowest side, you can confidently choose a 4 ft. ramp.

If your doors are on the high side of your site, you might need something longer. If your doors are on the high side and the ground continues to slope away from the doors, You will need to do some excavating to use a ramp effectively.
To choose the length of your ramp, use the same steps as you did in to calculate your site’s slope, but instead of going to the lowest spot, go to the spot where your doors will be. If the total rise is:
- 1′ or less – use a 4′ Ramp
- 1 – 2′ ft. – use a 5′ Ramp
- 2 -3 ft. – use a 6′ Ramp
